  1. If anyone could offer some advice it would be most welcomed-
using DVDit PE and its pissing right off- it won't let me use the avi's that i captured in premiere or the MPEG's I created from these with TMPGEnc.
I know, you're thinkin, 'codecs,' right?- Well, both these files will play in Windows Media Player yet they're not accepting it in DVDit. Doesn't this peice of shit software come with codecs?? and if not why are the codecs that are playing these files for WMP not playing them in DVDit??
i am experiencing rapid hair loss
    ......help, anyone...

  2. I use DVDit PE with mpegs created in Tmpgenc, if you supply a few more details on your problem, procedure followed, Tmpgenc settings NTSC/Pal, error messages received etc I may be able to help.

  3. I get a message saying that the AVI and mpeg files are unsupported but in the manual it says, and i quote, any media that plays in Windows Media Player is supported by DVDit. I used TMPGEnc to endcode the Mpegs and the DV AVI's are straight outta the camera, they haven't been edited in premiere or anything. The avi's won't preview in file properties, mind you, something about a DVSD codec, but they play in WinMediaPlayer.
Something else as well if anyone can figure out this one. If i edit the dv files in premiere and then export as DV AVI they won't function in TMPGEnc- any idea's there either??

  4. not very familiar with using DV source material but seem to remember reading on another thread that intsalling a DV codec other than the MS one solves a lot of problems with compatibility issues, might be worth searching the forum for more info. Sorry I cant say more.

  5. I had some of the same problems with DVDit pe 2.5.2 and finally got fed up and downloaded the free ULEAD DVD Movie Factory and it accepted the avi's immediately and I procuded a dvd in no time with no error messages during the process. Try doing that with DVDit. Oh and the trial is fully functional for 30 days and is only 45.00 if you buy it. Maybe try Ulead to convert avi to mpeg and then try importing to DVDit, or use ULEAD to make your dvd. Just a thought.
DVDit is very disappointing to me, it looks like a million bucks but functions like a piece of junk. So much potential yet so many errors, what a shame.

  6. I tried downloading another DV codec- the mainactor DVSD codec- this hasn't made any difference to the DVDit acceptance policy. In the windows properties dialog the preview still states it hasn't found a DVSD codec!?!?!
I tried a quicktime mov file as well and DVDit says it hasn't got the codec installed for that either. Is DVDit just a useless peice of shit or is DVDit a useless peice of shit.....

  7. I just re-read your posts and if I understand you correctly you are trying to import .avi file straight into DVDit. If this is the case then I have one piece of advice for you. DONT! The built in Mpeg encoder is very poor and very slow. Covert your .avi files to mpeg2 using TmpGenc or your favouritre encoder. I use the supplied templates for Pal and slightly modified ones for NTSC source material. It took me a while to persuade DVDit PE 2.5 to accept my Mpegs but I now have it figured out. E-mail me for further details

  8. right, lets get this straight-its the MPEG decoder its having problems with.
It isn't detecting it. Is this because the decoder is embedded in Media Player or something and i have to install a decoder in the system cos when i go to multimedia properties (win98) i do not see a mpeg decoder.
Does this help make my troubles any clearer??

My TMPGenc file i created will play in windows media player, but when i try to import it into dvdit! it says it can't find a suitable decoder. Plz help, i am experiencing rapid hair loss.

For DVD-it to find a suitable decoder you have to do the following :-

If it is M2v, Rename your m2v to mpv. If its not skip this bit and go do the following:-

Start to play your mpeg file in windows media player, then pause it DO NOT STOP VIDEO

Then minimize media player and open dvdit, import file in media section, then "voila" your mpeg will load in DVDit

Let me know if this sorts your problem.
