I recently tried doing a 2 pass vbr encode using mpeg1.. in the morning it had crashed at 50% (i presume the begining of the 2nd pass)
Basically my question is.. is it possable to do 2pass vbr and mpeg1?
or is it only for mpeg2 as this has worked in the past with no problems
thanks..

Typically VBR encoding is for MPEG2. If you are successful at VBR MPEG1, it will not fall within the standards of a VCD. A VCD requires a constant bitrate of no more than 1150 bits. Anything higher and the MPEG becomes a non-compliant VCD or XVCD in short. Even if your able to encode a MPEG1 using VBR, the average should not exceed 1150 bits.
Hope this was helpful.
