  1. I'm anxiously awaiting being able to burn my first movie on DVD with my DVD burner that came on my new PC. It is a Sony PVC-RX670. When I can finally accomplish this...will I be able to play burned DVD on my Playstation 2? I have played other DVD's on it, rentals, ones I've bought...but I know that burning DVD's and CD's sometimes have rules and regulations based on what your burning and what you intend to play it on??? Let me know....thanks!

Actually, video DVDs burned with NERO 5.5.7.8 and above are suppose to play on PS2s. As a matter of fact, I am doing an experiment tonight to see if this is true (but this is with a DVD-RW... if this works, then DVD-R will not be a problem).

  3. Great! Thanks, and I'll be looking for your next post...
Also, the CD/DVD bruner that came built in to my tower uses software that should only burn to DVD-R and DVD-RW's, so that won't be a problem. I'll be waiting, and good luck tonight.

    DVD-RW was a "NO GO" on a PS2. Trying tonight with a regular DVD-R.

  7. I have succesfully burnt films onto DVDR and played back on PS2, but only with expensive media (Verbatim).

I have tried loads of brands of disc and RW also, and verbatim are the only brand that will play without skipping on my PS2.

I have come across 1 problem though,

I have put 2 films on 1 DVDR, one of them is from a svcd that i converted to full dvd resolution and the other one is vcd that I left as vcd standard but changed the audio to dvd standard audio.

Both films play fine in my DVD player but in my PS2 the svcd film plays fine but the vcd film is really really blocky, its as if the PS2 decides what resolution it is going to play back both films as soon as you put the disc in.

The DVD-R that I created ran fine on a PS2. I used Verbatum disks, so I guess that I lucked out.

  12. damn, should have used the search function I just posted a topic about small pauses during playback on my PS2. I used apple media, I guess that is the problem?? Anyone successfully played a DVDR movie on a ps2 with apple media?

  13. apple media is one of the best and play no problem on ps2, same as verbatim and pioneer. All other media, is hit and miss, no other media works on my v.3 ps2 but some work on my brothers v.5 ps2. I know the v.5 ps2's had different lasers put in them.

What type of mpeg where you playing when you got skips, and was it every seconds all through the film?

  14. mpeg2, i encoded it from DivX, and yes the skips were every few seconds. i may not have used the correct settings, I used the default Tmpgenc NTSC DVD template. Should i demux first?? if it is the settings could you tell what to use?? i''d appreciate it. thanks
