I'm thinking about converting some Video Tapes over to DVD or VCD. I know that standard VCD use MPeg 1 and Good Quality DVD use MPeg 2. My question is using my Current System can I rip Good Enough MP2 (720x480) without to much upgrading
P3 1.0 Gig
Abit VH6 Mobo
768 PC133 Ram
32 Meg DDR ATI All In Wonder Radion
Win 2k
30GB 7200 HD currently UDMA 33
18GB 7200 HD currently UDMA 33
Sound Blaster PCI 128 Sound Card
I'm planning on moving the Hard Drive to UDMA 66. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I dont see why not, but dont be fool...you quality will ONLY be as good as the VHS tape, just because you use mpe2, doesnt mean you quality INCREASES. I would got UDMA 100 at bare minimum unless unsupported by your board. Even then, an ATA100 controller card woulnt hurt. Im not up on which capture cards are better than the others. A good capture card will help you maintain as much of the VHS quality you presently have.
