HandBreak (fastest way for MKV to AVI?)

Hello. I'm looking for a very fast way to convert MKV to xvid AVI, using for 2-3 hours long movies, with resize and subtitle options. I heard that Handbreak can do it very fast, installed it and when I load my MKV movie with Source button I don't even have AVI in the "output settings" -> "container". Available output options are MKV and MP4 only. I have installed xvid 1.3.2 codec from xvid.org already.

Would you please help me how can I convert MKVs to AVI with Handbreak? Or can you recommend any converter that does the job very fast?

If you want Handbrake you need Version 0.9.3.
Handbrake is however somewhat limit with respect to subtitles. (You don't mention if you need soft- or hard-coded subtitles)

There is nothing like very fast. You may use GPU acceleration, however that would be for h.264 video not xvid.

For what it is worth I mainly use MediaCoder especially when I need harddcoded subtitles.

I use xvid4psp 5. Use the avi hardware preset. ANd you can load and hardcode subs.
