Hi, I have a Sony dcr trv27 and a Sony trv730 camcorder. I was told that one can send an analog signal through and it would digitize it and then one can transfer it into my Macbook pro.
Can anyone tell me how to connect the two and does the digital camera have to have a tape ? Is the digital camera in vcr or camera mode?
Any other issues, and how do I actually know that the computer is capturing it? My computer has iMovie 10.0.2
Also, if possible I would like to just capture the video in a file without going into iMovie.
Thanks much

they are both digital cams. play a tape in either and use the firewire output to your mbp as long as it's an old one with firewire.

You can also use Quicktime Pro to capture, but as long as you're capturing to DV, iMovie is fine and the files will be identical.
