  1. Hi there,

I read several ways to insert custom subtitles using Virtual Dub and TMPGEnc, in this forum.

I want to do something diferent, I have the DVD but the DVD doesn't have subtitles in the language I want, but I can get them in the right language from the WEB (.srt file).

What I want do is the following:

Use Flask to "provide" the stream to TMPGEnc (using avisynth.dll) and get the subtitles somewhere else (from a "subtitle server ?!?"). Is this possible? Does Flask has any plugin that does this?

I know I can use Flask and TMPGEnc to get a MPEG file and then follow the guide to insert subtitles in a MPEG file, but this implies coding the mpeg file twice, and this results in a loss of quality.

Can anyone help me on this one, I know that it's not a usual request but I want to get the best quality I can.

    Thank You

    Luis Pinho

P.S.: I encode my movies using a 720x576 resolution with 1860 kbps for video and 128/224 kbps for audio (Stereo), 25 fps, I can put about 46 minutes of movies per CD (80 min)

You can convert the .srt to .ssa and use the VirtualDub subtitler filter.

Since you use Flask, it is probably not easy. Ever considered to use the dvd2avi>VFAPI>VirtualDub(frameserve)>TMPG way?
However you may be able to use the subtitler filter with Avisynth.

If you use the premiere plugin you have to use IPCSource instead of AVISource.
