Is it possible to index a VCD2.0 so it can be controlled like a DVD? Or do I have to simply split my large single *.mpg file into different files b4 burning in order to access different areas of the disc when playing?
Any help would be appreciated

I also would like to know this. Must be possible with the GNU stuff indicated on this site but looks a little complicated. I want to make VCD's of live concerts. I want to be able to skip to a song, without having breaks/pauses when the disc is played sequentlialy.
Any help would be much appreceated ! -
You need to use "entrypoints".
GNU VCDImager, VideoPack4 and Video-CD Toolkit can all do this. The first and the last are free. VideoPack4 is not.
If you search for "entrypoints" "chapters" and the proggy in question, you will find the answer.
