    Avisynth doesn't set the GOP structure, the encoder does.

    it's fine. ignore the warning and the dvd will work. open gops more efficient and are allowed in the dvd spec.

    If you think you might want to edit the converted video again don't use open GOPs. The tiny bit of extra compression they give isn't worth the hassle.
