Just a little update (writer stands in corner with dunce cap on)

The program that is hogging my cpu is not Windows Update at all. It displays itself as WindowsUpdater. exe *32. When I checked it's properties it said kb70007.

A quick Google this morning reveals that this is more fecking ad-ware and it's installation date seems very close to the other issues I have encountered (see localhost topic)

Off now to try and remove this little fecker. And, a full malware scan.

    Bleedin' 'ell

Malware bytes found a ton or more. Quaranteed the lot but then I had internet connection issues on reboot. It said that proxy server 127.0.0.1:8118 was not working.

Luckily, I still have my old XP volume and found a tiny program to reset the proxy.

Write a 100 times "Must be more careful"

    Until the next issue....

I have tried to install both the patches/updates as mentioned above.

On both occasions I as informed that they do not apply to my system. Can I thus assume that I am safe ?
