I found this in the 'how to convert' section, and it worked for me:

"...or you just get a empty/black video preview window:
Be sure that you have installed the DivX Codecs(both DivX 3.11, 4 and 5)
and also try with the Nimo Codec Pack. If that does not work try to change the settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video."

Be sure to convert a little of your film, abort the conversion, and play the resultant file, because you may need to adjust the sound due to a delay with the video. Good luck.

  6. well i fixed this bastard problem finally! using the codecs from divX 3.11 4 and 5 will allow use of older movies to be converted... and changing the priority of that plug-in "VFAPI i think" up to about 1 or 2 also fixed this little issue. and properly multiplexing your movies help that floating point error and system clock reference 1058 error too! i finally got some things done!!

  7. So the DivX codecs 3.11 4 and 5 can all be installed seperatly in the same system ?

if thats the case I will have to get the other ones also

  9. Same here - changing the DirectShow priority fixed the black screen problems. If there's a FAQ on the subject anywhere, this fix definitely needs to go into it.
