Yes, my research in the fundamentals of quantum mechanics is nothing:

My research in learning theory is nothing:

And my contributions to desktop video are nothing.

Perhaps you could share your accomplishments with us? Last time I heard, you were an unemployed exterminator. Watch out for those glass houses, my friend.

I just checked Doom9..seems to be running.
I always received good help over there...no bad experiences. But I have not been there for a while...but I did notice how quiet it is.
What happened? Where is Doom9 the person anyway?'Do I look absolutely divine and regal, and yet at the same time very pretty and rather accessible?' - Queenie

It seems his "real life" somehow has become "less real"

I wasn't going to comment again, but here goes...
1) Sure, you can make the case that the moderating at Doom9 is, hmm...over-zealous? Heavy-handed? Maybe favored members get special treatment? (meaning they get away with bad behavior).
(BTW, Baldrick and the mods here do a good job. I'm sure it's hard to find a good balance between effective rule enforcement and free interaction.)
As to the charge of *deliberate* bias and unfairness at D9, I don't think it's necessarily deliberate, human nature being what it is. And Doom9 is still a good resource for technical information.
Why take it so personally?
2) If you treat certain people like "red-headed stepchildren" (for you non-native English speakers, that's a euphemism for 'bastards'), the result is completely predictable. They'll go elsewhere if they can. You may think that too is deliberate, but I doubt it.
If I may be allowed a digression:
----------------------------------------
About 14 years ago, I joined the Board of Directors at my sportsman's club and took over the trapshooting committee. (We were the doormat of a very competitive amateur trapshooting league. A good many participants are/were highly ranked amateurs.)
I insisted all committee members try very hard to be polite and welcoming to newcomers to the sport, offering instruction/tips to anyone who asked. We also tried to be friendly and foster a fun atmosphere. It wasn't long before we started getting positive feedback. Many people complained of their treatment at other clubs. Participation in trap at our club burgeoned.
Within two years we stunned the league by winning a season. Some guys approached me and asked what was the "secret". No secret, says I, we're just polite and friendly. You ought to try it.
They said, no you're recruiting ringers, aren't you? No, I said, look at the averages. We only count the top 5 scores for each team at a shoot. Your 7-8 hotshot shooters are better than any of our 40-50 shooters, but they're gonna have to shoot well every single time. If each one of our intermediate shooters has just one "good day" a season, we're gonna beat you. And so we have, for every year since then. (And our intermediate shooters are getting better all the time).
Those other clubs just couldn't change their ways. I think the hotshots enjoyed their little cliques and enjoyed lording it over the (increasingly infrequent) newcomers. But I don't think it ever really dawned on them they were simply being unpleasant to newcomers.
There are signs, though, that it's changing at a few other clubs. Nothing lasts forever and there's a changing of the guard, inevitably. New guys take over who are sick and tired of us beating them every year.
----------------------------------
Anyway, I do wish they had a more pleasant atmosphere over at Doom9, but I'll not lose any sleep over it.Last edited by fritzi93; 15th Jun 2014 at 18:28.

i was an unemployed exterminator primarily because i fell through a ceiling and F'd up my neck, back and knee. then then fell again and broke my foot and screwed up my even more. but there was time when i owned my own pest control business and in its heyday i was making a grand a day, with the best i ever did being $2500, which isn't bad when you consider i started the business with 800 bucks in my pocket and i was a 1 man operation.
prior to that i majored in physic and comp sci and i got certified as a unix sys admin. after the accident i went back to school and got certified as an ekg tech, a phlebotomst and a medical assistant and i have worked in a couple of large hospitals in oncology and psychiatric intensive care units.
i can't tell you what i currently do due to an NDA but i can tell you i am getting ready to go back to school and finish my physics degree.
but the accomplishment i am most proud of is never having been made a mod in a half-assed forum and never having abused the little powers available to get myself off.
btw, you neglected to mention how long it took you to roll up all those pennies you made from your software. honestly, how many licenses have you sold in total? 1? 2? have you hit the 10 mark yet or are you hoping to break that magic barrier by the end of the year?
how does it feel to know that a guy that killed rats for a living made more money in a month than i'm willing to get you ever made on your best year?
i do plan on reading through the papers you claim to have authored/co-authored, i can use a good laugh. i would like to know what school did you get your degree from? i plan on suing them on your behalf for handing out fraudulent degrees.

Maybe you've heard of Cambridge University in the UK? That's why my mail address ends in cantab.net.

Seriously, my friend, you'll find your future life so much more fun and fulfilling if you treat other people respectfully.Last edited by Guest34343; 15th Jun 2014 at 19:20.

I wish he would. It would be a hell of a lot more interesting than the twaddle we are getting from the usual suspects.
One of my swimming students got a state cut in 100 breaststroke today so I am off to the Jewel to celebrate with some Ben and Jerry's cherry ice cream. Isn't life wonderful?

neuron2 returned to my Ignore List some posts ago --- but sadly, Ignore Lists were not designed to ignore quotes...
Only the devil knows why he returned to Videohelp... Maybe he is "putting to the test" the magic recipe from jimmalenko
Or maybe his summer began some weeks earlier... Or maybe he's been fired, and prefers using his additional free time for trolling instead of, let's say, creating an open-source alternative to TSmuxer...

A coach-athlete relationship is a partnership. We both take joy in the achievement. Do you think Bob Bowman should receive no credit for his work with Michael Phelps from an early age? Of course I deserve some credit. Ask the parents what they think about it. Shall I give you some emails from them?
Just so you fully understand, the swimmer in question is 8 years old. He sent me an email:
"Thank you Don so much for being the best coach ever, you really helped me all
seasons and always told me good tips for swimming and you are like the best coach
ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Honestly, you people are beyond the pale. I'm slow I suppose, because I assume the best in people, but it's pretty clear you are trolling me for some perverse pleasure. You now have a free field here to insult me because I won't post here again. Enjoy your victory!Last edited by Guest34343; 15th Jun 2014 at 20:51.
