Tried the German forum and it's down as well along with their software guide page. Probably the server has crashed...

For me, their server is down or unreachable since yesterday's night.

Doom9 has a habit of being unavailable at various times, some suggest the servers can't cope so crash needing a re-boot, or just too much traffic at any one time or another server upgrade/move
If/When you can't get on Doom9 forums, or any forums that are on the doom9 servers the only option is to try the next day
Eventually, they do come back online. They had been off for at least a day just recently (as you found out), I just tried again the day after and it's back up again
To my knowledge this has happens at least 2-3 times in the last couple of years. But, considering how much traffic they get its not surprising they need to move/upgrade servers

What steptoe said. Additionally, those in the know say that the guy who runs the site (I don't remember his name) isn't always on top of things so it's not unusual for problems like this to happen. I gave up on Doom9 years ago as I just got tired of the constant "We're so cool and everybody not here sucks" attitude. You might find this site a lot more helpful LONERANGER.

Currently down now for about 13 hours.

NOBODY here cares. Don't dig up an old thread to give us an update on it being down. We DON'T care.
LONERANGER joined us simply to start this thread and he hasn't been back since. The very few people here who do care about Doom9 know it's down. We don't need a running commentary from you telling us "It's down", "It's up", etc.

I care. I like to read about bdrebuilder and tsmuxer. The official threads.

Sorry, no. The last two times this happened, the IP address had mutated and Swede needed to manually reset the DNS (I'm not a networking guru so if that sounds off, forgive me, it's something like that). The problem for us is that he doesn't check the forum every day.
Of course, it's also possible he had a major hardware failure of some kind. Patience, as they say, is a virtue. I reckon we will be back online in not too long.
Or maybe there was an FBI raid.
[that's sarcastic because Doom9 is very strict about "rule 6" and anyway the servers are not in the USA]

I fully admit to having a grudge against Doom9. And I'm not alone. I question whether it makes sense to have this site be the official place to go to in order to see if Doom9 has crapped itself, which is all the freakin' time. But Baldrick said conclusively that he is in favor of this, so I bow to the will of others in the matter.

You are mostly right. I care so that's not "nobody", but my grudge is irrelevant. My point was not my personal grudge, it's that I question whether we should be the go to site to find out of if other sites are down. Believe me, Doom9 would certainly not return the favor, but the majority have spoken here.

I don't believe you and you have no basis for that claim, other than your personal grudge/vendetta. Do a search for "VideoHelp" at Doom9. You'll quickly see that Doom9 holds this forum in high regard. We're kind of "sister forums", each serving a different mix of users (VideoHelp is more user-oriented; Doom9 is more developer-oriented). If you wanted to make a similar query regarding VideoHelp in the General subforum at Doom9 I can personally guarantee that nobody would object to it.
Here's an example:

Try clearing your cache as the DNS may have changed again. I don't know the reason. I'll PM Swede to ask. One other possible cause is that he has had power failures at his location. He's mentioned that several times. An outage that lasts longer than a UPS backup time is pretty hard to deal with.
