  1. I was always wondering about a strange port on my old Compaq Presario...

It is a video output and it's not DVI or DisplayPort.

It is located below the VGA port, with a LCD-Like monitor icon:

(This is not my picture, but my computer is the same as this one)

The stickers say it's a "Next Generation Monitor Port!" of some sort.

That port got me feeling curious for years, so can anyone guess what it is?

P.S. I am planning to upgrade RAM, Hard Drive and install Xubuntu and a Ethernet PCI card (And remove it's internal modem since Dial-Up these days is pretty rare PLUS it's internal Iomega ZIP drive since no one uses it these days as well) with mine to make it fit the modern era...

Is there a larger photo available? I see VGA, DVI, and serial.

Maybe an older DE-9 VGA port. Newer VGA ports use 15 pins, DA-15.

Probably a Digital Flat Panel (DFP) port

Interesting... So it was some kind of unused port that was superseded by DVI?

Sadly, this is the closest photo I can get on the net...

My Compaq is located somewhere else at the moment...
