  1. I found an old Video8 tape (not 8mm reel) and have tried it on playback in my OG camcorder. There is perfect audio but no video, just white blurry mess, is there anyway to fix the camcorder? It is a white mess on playback but when i try to look through the cam without a tape playing it has diagonal scrolling lines and looks similiar to when the tape is playing. Any help would be greatyl appreciated, by the sound of the audio it an important tape I didn't know I had.

    Kind regards,

    Matt

  2. I read there are Video8 adapters, anywhere to require these, these days?

If you have any friends who still have an old Video 8 camcorder, that would be the easiest option. The camcorders also go for pretty cheap on eBay and similar sites so buying a cheap one, or two if the first one doesn't work, would probably be the second best option. The camcorder obviously only needs to work for playback purposes so one in which the camera part is broken would be fine. Or you can consult a business who can digitize the tape for you.

Fixing these old camcorders is sometimes possible, but rarely worth the effort (I've tried).

Many thanks for your reply man. I cleaned the heads up nice but the problem is exactly the same, blurry squiggly lines up and down and the audio is now dropping in and out, thinking the heads are stuffed. Will look at another cam or pro service.

    Thanks again.
