To be permanmently banned (user account), I think you need 6 strikes.

3 strikes in one month = 30 day suspension.
Another 3 strikes = suspension = banned for life.

But this renaming biz doth puzzle me. This has to be done at Admin level. But when you log on you need to quote your new name. So if the renaming was done not at the request of the member - Guest34343 is pretty obscure - and the member tries to log in with his old name, he can not ?. Is that then a form of banning ?

I last looked on Sunday and neuron2 (I like that "moron2" reference earlier, by the way) was just being a colossal jerk and engaging in sanlyn like behavior of "I'm always right. If you disagree with me, then you are wrong. And I will spend infinite amounts of time to rebut anything you say that I don't like." Just to be clear, nobody anywhere said that. I mean that as a behavior description.

what i find a bit odd is that the head honcho of this forum explicitly gives his permission for us to discuss doom9, and never offers any indication that the direction of the discussion is in any way bothering him, he only says that we should refrain from calling each other "dicks", which we all adhered to.

all of a sudden the whole conversation is deleted, no warnings, not close the thread but bam, thread eliminated from existence.

Well I never had an opportunity to study at Cambridge.

You must understand that the term 'Cambridge' is an umbrella for all the colleges that exist in that city. Our 'friend' was not specific in which one he received his degree. Not that I wish to diminish any of them but some oft would enrol students (as long as they can afford the fees) that were good at rowing .

Would still get thrashed by Oxford tho.

Case in point – in PM, my last words to this moderator were: “Your ego precedes your professionalism."

The "rules" have very little to do with his actions, but merely serve as leverage, in the twisted form of the moment, that he uses to justify his behavior. After that other recently closed thread, I sadly realized he still hasn’t changed after 7 years since. He is more full of himself, and more full of it, than ever.

I wish him luck elsewhere. He'll need it.

As a result, Doom9 is not a real forum. It has no integrity when its mass members only post what pleases him, and a couple of other similar moderators there, along with their obsessions and their favorite wares. People at Doom9 post in fear, not for the value of video progress. They are no more than sheep.

This is not the way to grow a forum since many will leave, and have left, such a toxic environment. And, as a result, Doom9 is indeed dying.

look at how he came here.. one of his first few response was harsh. he was purposely setting himself up for what was to follow. oh, he knew what to expect from some of the members here. he knew.

therefore, i believe it was all planned to retire or leave, everywhere. first here, and then d9 and probably anywhere-else he used neuron2 id. he choose to use VH as the initial kick-off, just so he would have the proper excuse or argument, "..they gave me such a hard time over there..", "..i had enough..", "..i said its time to go..", etc. etc. this way, he could leave d9 in good grace or esteem. and so, if he is one day spotted somewhere, the conversation could start around there.
