you know what, you're right, i just looked through the page source of a few torrent sites, the ones that have adverts with nude chicks and guys dongs aren't running adsense, the ones that run adsense don't have those adverts anymore.

it's still kind of funny that google would want to censor anything considering the big stink with google censoring stuff in countries like china and the fact that if you type in porn into their search engine you can find some of the nastiest stuff you can imagine.

with regards to the words that are censored in the U.S., it's not an easy answer, there is a safe harbor provision in the law that says the so called 7 dirty words can't be broadcast before 10pm (presumably when kids are most likely to hear them), they can be broadcast from 10pm - i think 5 or 6 am and they can be broadcast at any time on subscriber channels like HBO.

interestingly enough the IFC channel, which comes as part of the basic cable package where i live and is part of FIOS' premium package broadcasts content unedited and uncut, no censoring of anything, nudity, language, nothing, at all hours of the day and night and it's not a separate subscriber channel.

honestly, the whole censorship issue in the U.S. is one giant mess, broadcasters have become so afraid of offending anyone or getting sued or boycotted that they have started censoring words that could be considered offensive to some; it started with the so called "n" word, and i was opposed to censoring it not because i feel like hearing a racial slur but because of the slippery slope thing. sure enough now they censor the word "retard" (it gets bleeped out) and they have even started censoring the word "Jew", because somehow that has become an offensive word.

that's not the way it used to be with the old ET forums, they tried to suspend my account and i was still able to run amok for a month by not shutting down my browser session (obviously i never turned off my computer).

The key word there is BROADCAST. HBO is a subscriber channel BUT NO cable only show is subject to those rules. The sole excuse for the censorship rules it that the airwaves have a limited total bandwidth and thus require regulation. What happens on cable is none of the FCC's business.

And yeah I remember your little problems on Doom 9. Seemed to me like you were looking to get banned. Not saying I agree with the ban as I LIKE flame wars and have to restrain myself here. Then again you didn't really seem all that skilled at flaming without breaking rules. Perhaps you are better at it now. Its a skill that can be acquired.

when i have to encode h264 i usually stick with intel's quick sync, since i don't bit rate starve my encodes i find it has great quality.

for software based encodes i used to have a copy of magix software that allowed you to fully configure the main concept encoder which resulted in excellent encoders, i've used the cheaper versions of sony's software so that i could use the gpu accelerated encoder, such as sony's avc and main concept's gpu encoder, i have used microsoft's expression encoder for vc-1 encodes, and now i use divx's excellent hevc encoder.

x264 is the best choice if you enjoy ass raping your videos by bit rate starving them, it's an excellent choice if you're starting with a poor quality source or something easily compressible like cartoons where you won't notice the abuse x264 has heaped on your video or if you like your software coded by pompous douches.

i will tell you this, back when i found out that his darkness and friends where working on xvp8 my curiosity was piqued and i would have liked to have tried it out but alas it seems they abandoned the project.

now if he decided to do a xvp9 encoder, i would give it a shot but knowing what a colossal scumbag he can be i'm sure he would spend more time denouncing all competing solutions than actually coding his.

To be permanmently banned (user account), I think you need 6 strikes.

3 strikes in one month = 30 day suspension.
Another 3 strikes = suspension = banned for life.

Although it's only life for that account name.
