    Hi all.

Please excuse if my question is too basic or naive but I am very new to this area.

I need to know how one can effectively download streaming videos from well known sites as below :

    1- YouTube.com
    2- DailyMotion.com
    3- XVideos.com

I would be very obliged if you can advise me on some good and effective software for the purpose.

    Thank you and regards.

(p.s. I tried software from Ant.com which they said was a plugin for FireFox but it didnt work).

Thanks all for the nice suggestions.

I have as first tried TubeDigger and it seems OK except for sometimes when it does not download automatically when we paste a url into it. Then it gets frustrating. I will also try the other ones just for their efficacy and post my comments.

  6. Much simpler and free, the firefox extension download helper

    p.s.
going to have to withdraw this recomendation, they don't give me every video version. I tried freemake video downloader instead, it worked better.

  7. There is another Firefox download extension mentioned in another thread that allows all video versions to be downloaded:

  8. I just tried it. Confusing program, but I set preference to 1080p and used quick download, and got a 720p file. There must be some common problem with all the extension based downloaders. Still only Freemake works.

  10. I found the problem, I hadn't restarted all my Firefox windows. If you use that extension, you have to show all download links, and in tab 2, there's the video only 1080p version (the audio can be d/l separately). You have to setup ffmpeg to let the program combine the separate video and audio files.

This could explain why the other extensions only let me download max 720p streams; because that is the highest resolution one which is available immediately with combined video/audio.

On the other hand, the Freemake program hides this complexity and seemingly lets you download a single 1080p file with video and audio.

I haven't set up ffmpeg yet, so this extension may be just as transparent in the end.

    p.s.
I tried it. There's a button labeled "Proceed" in the settings and it silently downloads and installs ffmpeg. You just have to wait for a message to come up that it's finished.

After that, clicking download 1080p video only will actually download video and audio. Then a command window will appear briefly, then the original files disappear and the final file remains. So it's sort-of transparent.

  12. That utube video consists of one pixel. (That is what the caption says) You cant's see anything. Exactly what is the reason for downloading that one? Especially in 1080P? Are you wasting our time? Is there some hidden spy stuff in that one pixel? Like the microdot spy stuff of the cold war?

    Hi.

The following site doesn't seem to be working with Youtube anymore :

    http://en.savefrom.net

Any video URL posted for download returns a 'link not found' message.

Is this website dead? Is there any other similar website for youtube?

    Many thanks.
