  1. Heya I'm a newbie at this...

I followed the directions on how to convert a DIVX AVI to MPG and then burn as VCD using NERO...

I am able to play the VCD file on my stand alone DVD player, however, some of the image is cropped, about 1 inch from the top of the screen and one inch from the bottom.

I tried w/ both NTSC and NTSC FILM, the file was 23.976 fps BTW. I live in the US and both my TV and DVD player use the NTSC standard... sigh I'm confused.. did I do something wrong?

  2. Did you use the 3:2 pulldown when you encoded? Since the video was 23.976 you need to use the 3:2 pulldown so that the dvd player still thinks it is 29fps. I don't know if this is why your video got cropped but it could be.

  3. Weeeee i figured it out... dunno why it cropped it
I fixed it by deselecting "Keep aspect Ratio" and selecting
"Center and use Custom size" what that did is make black borders on top bottome and left and right... I noticed the Panasonic Encoder's tutorial said that DIVX files often need to be changed in this manner, however the Panasonic Demo only lets you encode 30 seconds of film... anyways I'm glad Tmpeg has this feature as well... and it solved my problem ^^
