  2. being that this is in conversion, i'm assuming you mean a file you want to encode seems to only have audio, no video...

you likely don't have the codec to decode the video part properly. the movie is likely a divx file, and you need to go install the divx codec. (www.divx.com)

  3. How do you find out what codec is being used for video and audio? Is there a generic way to find that out in any video and files?

  4. i had already a TMPGens, but that was an older version. Due to mpeg2 i needed i newer version. By the older version every thing works perfectly
What divx codec i have to download? or is this a genreal one?

open the file in virtual dub, and select file-->file information

  6. I openend the avi file and find the next information: Decompressor: DivX Pro 5.0 codec. Is this the right codec?

that tells you that you need the DivX Pro 5.0 codec to read the file--and therefore to be able to encode it with any encoder

  10. if your desperate, you can re encode the entire avi again with virturaldub, might take an hour. Just put video and audio on full process mode. On video, choose compression and pick divx mpeg4 low motion, and on audio goto compression and put it on pcm(uncompress) . now goto file save avi and try this new avi you saved. Because sometimes a avi can get corrupted and it wont work right on tmpg. But im not sure that this will work, but maybe

  16. It's in Tmpgenc under Environmental settings--> Vfapi plugin

Just right click on Directshow and select higher priority until it is positioned at the top.

    Take care,

  19. Mikehg,

thanks for that tip,,I have been for the last week with TMPGEnc with problems trying to open any avi file that I capture with Miro dc30+,after I red your tip, going to TMPGEnc under Option>Enviromental settings>vflapi plugin,,,and I set the direct show to high priority and won't work,I can't see any video, then I set both AVI plugins to higher priority and NOW WORKS !!!!!! I ask the same question,,how this settings were change, even when I use the same TMPGEns copy? maybe was the order of the plugin installation,,,,
    THANKS FOR THAT TIP !!!!!

My original problem: I capture with Miro dc30+,save as avi,,and TMPGEnc
always gave me a bunch of rectangle with many colors when I open the avi file, now I set both avi plugins under TMPGEnc>options>enviromental setting to "higher priority" and now I can open avi files,,

    GREAT!!!!!!!
    THANKS AGAIN Mikehg

  20. Great!, Glad I could help. As to what the default order is I'm not sure. There are so many different variations and codecs needed to render video and audio files that Tmpgenc doesn't always use the corect one. That is why they luckily give us the option to manually set the rendering method. Of course they don't give you any hints about how to do this, so unless you really know all the different formats and codecs well, you are left to a trial and error method :)

    Take care,
    Mike H.

    Romy,

Give Womble a try. Or try using VCDHelp "HOW TO" under the EDIT section. Look to the left of your monitor in the green section.
