  1. RTMPDump does not work to capture some streaming TV shows from CBS.com and a few other sites. Is there any commercial program one can recommend that would work ?

The problem here is that some streams are 'protected' and most current software has now been modified to disable the recording of such streams.

I use two commercial programs TubeDigger and HiDownload but am unable to test these on that site due to geographical boundaries(I tried) - and I have no intention of messing around with proxies etc.

All you really can do is get hold of trial versions of as many programs as possible and test them.

There is also a very long topic about stream recording and that might mention some other software or methods.

And if all fails, you can always resort to screen-capture.

I haven't used it but many people say Internet Download Manager is the go to tool for streaming downloads.
It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly
