    using the above mentioned Authouring program, Can anyone of you learned folks tell me how to make the CHAPTER THUMBNAILS of my created DVD actually have motion, ie play the film in the window from the chapter mark it represents......

    You need to turn on the motion menu. Click on "DVD-Video global menu settings", then select the "Motion Menu" tab and choose Motion Menu with or without an audio background, and the duration.

    Thanks so much for that, if I can pester you to ask how do I apply a FADE IN to the START of the track, I can apply a FADE OUT at the end but I cannot find an option to apply one to the START

    You can import a still image colored whatever color or video colored whatever color. Import that at the start of the track and then use a cross dissolve transition between the still (or video) and the video you want to fade in. You may need to adjust the duration of the imported colored still image or video.
