  1. hi everyone, i have a whole bunch of short video clips that are MPEG-PS files, and they vary in resolutions from 640x360 up to 854x480

these videos were given to me by a client, and for some reason they are all split into 2 or 3 parts, and they want them all joined together so they have all the videos as a single MPEG files.

can someone offer a suggestion for a good quality, easy to use, and Free (open source) joining tool for this project.

    cheers

edit: i tried my copy of AviDemux but it doesnt support these files because the resolutions are not quite correct, so i downloaded the trial version of Boilsoft and that works good with these files, but its trialware, so hopefully i can get them all joined before the 15 day trial period ends.

any other suggestions for a Free joiner still appreciated.

You could try freemake video converter(adware alert!! so be VERY careful when install it). You load all mpg files. Select join files at top right. Click to mpeg.

But I don't know how it will work with different resolutions...

  3. hi, no i have 150 mpg files that makes up 60 individual videos, some are split in 2 parts, some in 3 parts, so i have to do 60 individual joins all up to give my client 60 single files.

there is 3 different resolutions, but each part for each video is of the same resolution so there is no problems dealing with joining different resolutions.

boilsoft is pretty good, very easy to use.

    I see.

You can then try the free video to video converter. Under Tools->Join video files, add all files and under Video choose Direct Stream copy.

    or

Mpg2cut2, open, select all files, save all clips.

  5. ok thx a lot, but i discovered that i still have an active subscription to the Boilsoft editing suite which i have not used for like 4 years, i even got rid of my old installers because i just stopped using it after i stopped working with standard def files.

i contacted Boilsoft last night and they sent me my registration details, and i was offered an upgrade to the current versions of their entire suite for only $25, so i bought it, because as a basic editing suite, it isnt too bad.

my regular editing software these days for all my avchd video needs is VideoReDo TVSuite + h264 which is a great programs if all you need is single timeline editing.

    cheers

Just curious. Did you try using the joiner in VideoReDo? It's what I use for joining mpeg.

I'm pretty sure videoredo can load multiple files and join them...or not?

  9. yes videoredo can import in join mode, and output them to the same format, but you have to create a custom profile for each of the 3 resolutions that i have here.

its not like boilsoft where you just import the required files and it just stitches them together.

these are simple mpeg2 files and i cant be bothered importing each set of files and have to create profiles.

i had a licence for boilsoft, and its much quicker as well for these small files.

no they dont, and until i see him again, i have no idea how these videos got split into 2 or 3 parts.

from looking at them, i think he imported the files into an editing tool, cut segments out in the timeline, and rather than the file join back together as a single file, he may have used the wrong trim/cut option, and he ended up with each retained segment output as separate files, so i am guessing this is why he sent them to me to join back together.

he actually lives 300 miles from me, he uploaded these files to my mediafire cloud storage account so i could fix them up for him.
