    I have Win8 in my computer, 1tb HD, i7 Intel, 8G ram, I am
considering upgrading to 8.1, before I do, I thought Id throw
it out to the pros. Bad or good idea, if so is there a
compatibility app that should be downloaded?
    Thanks in advance,

  2. You should definitely do it, many things were improved in 8.1, but there's a catch if you upgrade through the windows app store; should you ever need to re-install windows, you'll have to re-download it. It's best if you can get the ISO to make a disc, I just don't know if the trick is still active.

    I listed some pros here.

I know from personal experience that some firewall and antivirus programs that worked with Windows 8 were incompatible with Windows 8.1. I guess most have been patched now or there is a new version available that is compatible with Windows 8.1, but Google yours to make sure.

There is a compatibility list: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/Home but not much has been added yet.
