Ok guys and dolls, for the past somewhat three weeks i've been
compiling vcds and svcd along with converting DVD back to svcd
stay with this... to DVDR - Multi Movie that is 4 films on one DVD
    complete with menus..

Now the final outcome is a DVDR disc that has three->four movie
which plays on my Pioneer 444s and on my mothers weird but
good DVD along with my sisters Reco 03 bought from Safeways

however if you try and play the DVD (multi film) dvd on say my mates
Cyberhome or my PS2 you can hear the sound, but on both of these
machines.. you get the main menu as should be, but when you start
the selected movie you get a grey blocky mess...

Now is this down to the chipset used in the PS2 or Cyberhome or is
it something to do with the authoring process..... more sorry....

now if I author a straight one:2:one copy of say a silver dvd bought
from overseas it works 100% on all players including Cyberhome
    and PS2

now the only thing I can think it is, is a problem when I am using
    Tmpeg and Spruce up...

I use Tmpeg, to join film, de mux and then load Pal video-cd template
then I re-sample audio to 44800 for DVD standard, basically then
import .m2v files into Spruce Up and compile menus and import
other media (Films) then use Spruce Up to export and burn to my
    Pioneer AO3

    Any thoughts

Hi, I've seen the same thing happen if I borrow Multi movies DVD's from a mate. I could be wrong, but I think the problem is the format of the movies on the multi film DVD's.
To get more than one movie on, you need to convert the originals to what is basically a VCD format movie, it's a cheat to get more "movie" onto the disc.
Some stand alone players are more tolerant of the files on the DVD and will play the movies without any problems, others such as the PS2 will only play DVD's which conform to the specs more closely, so wont play the films properly, if at all.
I've burned some VCD's and SVCD's onto cdrw's and plain cdr's and the PS2 won't play these either, although my stand alone REC DVD player will, (well some of them anyway).

  3. I have had a similar problem with the cyberhome and multidvd discs.

    Still searching for a solution.

I have done this in a couple of different ways,
1st time I used MyDVD that came with the A03 2 movie on 1 DVD
    2nd Time I used spruceup
I have also had the same problem with a straight 1-1 copy.

All discs play fine on my own player but have problems with the cyberhome.

It could be a problem with the zones (not sure on this as I have not had time to look into it properly)
I know the discs are region free, But it could be possible that the player may need a specific region encoded.

If I find any more info will post it here. :-?

  4. just like to add to this.

I am now suffering this problem with my sisters cyberhome.

Using spruce and nero i get bad disc error.

HOWEVER a copy of dog soldiers works.

I looked at the frame size and it is 352x576. So much for that theory.

When I load the disc into my alba TITLE is displayed. If I load one of my spruce discs then ROOT is displayed.

    Authoring software/firmware clash?

Wish I new which software dog soldiers was authored with.

  5. Hello people, it seems that it's a bug in the cyberhome firmware, the latest firmware will cure this problem....

    Get it from here

  6. as a follow up, if you burn exactly the same video_ts folder using prassi then the disc works.

  7. It could also the video resolution of the MPEG2 file. Some players have problems with 352x480 NTSC or 352x576 PAL MPEG files even though these are within the DVD specification. I have a number of movies in these resolutions that play fine on my Pioneer and PS/2 but wont play on friends Toshiba players.

It may also be down to the brand of blank DVD-R disc used, again some players cope better than others with cheaper brands.

Another possibility is that the min bit rate of the source mpgs is too low, apparently some DVD players don't like DVDs with very low bit rates.

    Later BRETT

  10. Unpack the zip file and burn it to a CD as is with an extra folder in the root called No_Used, pop it in your player and follow the on screen instructions....

It Worked for me....and now I can have 4 VCD's on 1 DVD (He he he)

Go here if this doesn't make any sense.....
