And if I'm correct the max it can go is 90○ so my guess is when the video renders to 30 - 35%.
My CPU overheats (either because it is faulty or thermal paste is crap) which in turn causes the freeze.
    Yes?
Yes. Get an aftermarket cooler. Something like this if you have room:

I'll probably get one off of Newegg.
I buy everything there and it comes to my house in 1 day lol.

Yes, NewEgg has them too. You might consider liquid cooling. I recently got a Corsair H80 for about $30.

I usually get next day delivery from them too.

It would be best to buy a better heatsink fan,the stock one isn't very good for video encoding, something like a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus with arctic silver 5 would be good for your system, putting in just paste won't help much unless you get a better hsf.

I have the older version of Cooler Master Hyper 212 and my idle temps are at 25c and full load temps at 55c.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Yeah I also figured out why my games run fine but the video rendering doesn't.
All of my video games are running from the GPU and not the CPU, which is why my games don't cause overheating etc...
So since I do a lot of video editing now, I think my CPU has run its course and it's time for a new one.

    Thanks for the help guys.
Sorry for being a n00b and ignorant.
First time here & experiencing this issue.

    Take care. ^_^

    Yes, exactly.

  7. THAT would be why I asked, 2 or three times, how long you had been successfully encoding video BEFORE the problem began to happen.

If the GOD-DAMN Fan worked to cool the CPU for some period BEFORE the freezes began, many times, then it cools adequately and something has happened to change it. If you never tried it before three weeks ago then the fan never worked for this purpose.

If the fan worked previously, then unless your local air got hotter, or the heatsink somehow shrank, then it is adequate and something else has changed. THAT would be why I asked about the heatsink being bumped during video card install.

I'm sorry I expected actual thinking, that was just asking too much. So, Spend $50 to solve what may be a .30 cent problem. Don't apply any rational or logical thought to the sequence of events. Just guess and hope it doesn't catch on fire.

    **** all I'm done here.

Okay here is a screenshot of Core Temp running while a video is rendering.
It started out around 45○C and as you can see it hit 80○C.

Way too hot. Don't wait to check the paste and heat sink OR don't encode till you do.
