  1. Hey all!

Well in my recent endeavor I figured that using codec packs (used K-lite) with Adobe Premiere Pro, does not work out well. So I was wondering what do you guys use on your PC's for video playback/encoding what are your preferences and why. I know this topic has been chewed in and out already, but almost every month I see a new codec pack out there that claims that it's better that the last so I'm loosing my ground in knowledge what to put on my PC in order for Adobe to work like it should, as well as my media player.

    Cheers,
    shorto

  2. Premiere doesn't really use system installed codecs, except for a few VFW codecs (mostly AVI)

I would only install codecs that you need , as you need them. No sense cluttering up your system with dozens of codecs that you don't need or ever use

Another option is to use a media player that doesn't use system installed codecs (or the option to not use system codecs) e.g. VLC , SMPlayer, KMPlayer, MPCHC

  4. More details please. Right click on the clip and choose properties. Report back what it tells you.

  6. A couple of ideas, but no definite solutions:

Is this from a Blu Ray or a camera?
If it came from a commercial disk that you own, it could be a copy-protection issue.
If it came from a camera, import the entire folder structure, not just the single file.
The symptoms may be caused by your having installed (and hopefully uninstalled) codec packs. A re-installation of Premiere might help.

  7. it's from my camera, this is part of the complete imported AVCHD folder that came with the videos (the 00003.MTS is actually only 18min long due to the 4GB limit so all the files from the folder are long as the duration that is listed in the properties).

This happens with all of the files, I kinda figure it out. I have to start a project, import the video, save the project restart Adobe, and then it works. Kinda a strange solution but for now it works.

I see that a lot of people are having this problem ATM, on the Adobe forums,s o perhaps it's simply a bug.
