Video Conversion issue

I recently installed a program Freemake Video converter 4.1.1.2. I have following observations:
I made a movie clip (avi file) from a movie video(avi file) through Avidemux. The movie clip is not playing in Divx player but playing in VLC media player. How ever the movie video was playable in Divx Player. Further I tried to resolve this issue by again converting the video clip to avi file through Freemake then initially the software became slow to operate, and the size of the clip went from 56 mb to 12500 mb (as estimated by Freemake). I did not complete the conversion.And same happen while converting the clip to mp4 format.

Try convert with something else.

Convert to mp4 with handbrake or to avi with divx/xvid video and mp3 audio(avi dvd player preset) using for example xmedia recode, video to video converter, format factory, etc.
