  1. Hi,i export my 5.1 audio (edited by premiere) in WAV 5.1 then I use Aften (WAV to AC3 Encoder) to encode in AC3 format.
The result is a file with some more seconds at the end of the file with strange noise...

Do you know what is the problem and a way to encode WAV to AC3 without problems?

    Thanks

  2. What command line do you use for Aften (or does the GUI show you the command line)? Not that I'm an expert, but my best guess would maybe try using "-readtoeof 1"
You'll find the explanation for it here.

Or alternatively, try a different GUI to see if the problem goes away. There's a few which use Aften for AC3 encoding. MeGUI's audio encoding section does (no need to encode video too). TAudioConverter probably does (I don't use it myself). If not Aften, it encodes to AC3 anyway.

  3. "-readtoeof 1" doesn't fix the problemI tried MeGUI. It works only if i select "Preferred decoder: Direct Show"
I tried also TAudioConverter an it works
    But neither have many options...

  4. What specific options were you looking for ?

  5. Aften has "dialog normalization" and "Dynamic Range Compression profile" (that i used to set to speech or Film Light)

  6. IIRC aften's DRC metadata isn't implemented correctly (it's not spec compliant, and doesn't work like certified Dolby AC3 encoders) and therefore it's not recommended to be used . I don't think it has been fixed or addressed

I think TAudioConverter uses ffmpeg in the backend, and dialnorm can be applied through the commandline -dialnorm
