  1. Hi guys. I tried a search for this and did not find anything, but if this is a repeat question, if you would be kind enough to link me to the original article, I'd appreciate it. Also, I'm new to burning BD, so I'm going to do my best to give all the information that I think would be useful; if there's more info that would help, I will be more than happy to provide it.

I've got a .TS file that I'm trying to burn to BD. I add the .TS file into tsMuxerGUI1.10.6. I set the output to Blu-ray disk. On the Blu-ray tab, I'd like my chapters to start at specific points, so I set the following custom chapter stops (copied and pasted, so this is my exact syntax):
    00:00:00.000
    00:01:37.000
    00:05:13.000
    00:10:53.000
    00:15:55.000
    00:20:17.000
    00:24:48.000
    00:28:05.000
    00:34:03.000
    00:40:22.000
    00:44:54.000
    00:49:41.000
    00:55:22.000
    00:59:29.000
    01:04:51.000

I then tell it to mux, and the result is - as far as I can tell - a perfectly good blu-ray, but with no chapter stops. I say this based on opening the BDMV folder in PotPlayer 1.5.40688. Granted, my experience with that player has not been stellar in the past; it functions, but often when I open a BMDV folder, it will display the chapter stops, but not allow me to navigate to them using the forward and back buttons. Despite that, I see that the chapter stops are there, and when I burn a disc, they work fine. I'm concerned that I can't see the red chapter marks in the muxed TS file. I have not tried burning it yet, but I try to follow the philosophy of "if it doesn't look right before you burn it, it won't after you burn it, either."

In case any of the metafile data will help, here is what it listed (note that the chapter stops are indeed listed here):
    MUXOPT --no-pcr-on-video-pid --new-audio-pes --blu-ray --vbr --custom-chapters=00:00:00.000;00:01:37.000;00:05:13.000;00 :10:53.000;00:15:55.000;00:20:17.000;00:24:48.000; 00:28:05.000;00:34:03.000;00:40:22.000;00:44:54.00 0;00:49:41.000;00:55:22.000;00:59:29.000;01:04:51. 000 --vbv-len=500

    Decoding MPEG-Audio stream (track 2): Bitrate: 256Kbps Sample Rate: 48KHz Channels: 2 Layer: 2

It also pops out one error at the end that may be the problem:
Unsupported media type 4 for AVCHD/Blu-ray muxing

In my previous searches, I've found that it will often make a 00001.mpls or 00001.clpi, but neither of these are present in the PLAYLIST or CLIPINF folders.

I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible. To that end, I am not adding any menus nor reencoding the fps rate or anything; I merely want to add the chapter stops and keep everything else as it was.

I should also mention that since my custom chapter stops did not work, I tried having tsMuxer set the default of every 5 minutes, but after muxing, I still do not see the chapter stop indicators.

I thank you in advance for any suggestions you can offer. I hope that I have included all pertinent information, but if I can provide anything else that might help, I would be glad to. Thanks again.

MPEG audio is not valid for AVCHD or BD. This why you are getting the "Unsupported media type" error. I'm not completely sure but 1080p and 29.97 fps may be invalid too. The 1080p is fine, but why isn't this 24 fps? Or 1080i if it's going to be 29.97 fps.

I never have used PotPlayer. I have Total Media Theater (not free) and I trust it to test tsmuxer output prior to burning. I have successfully set custom chapters using tsmuxer.

My best guess is your use of invalid audio and (I think) invalid video has freaked it out and it's dropped to some kind of fall back mode where it gave you output, but it can't do chapters because you're not adhering to standards. The audio is likely the easier to fix so either convert to AC3 or convert to WAV, in the latter case it assumes that the video is not so large that there is actually room for WAV (also known as LPCM) audio to not exceed your chosen disc size.

  3. Thanks for the reply, Jman. Unfortunately, I had nothing to do with the creation of the TS file; it's just how someone decided to distribute a BD. I'll look into changing the audio, but if it's too involved, I may just stick with no chapters. It's inconvenient, but I'll tolerate it. Any suggestions on what to use to convert the audio? Thanks again!
