  1. A play-out software requires all graphic overlays to be in a QTZ format. Are they any software converts capable to convert "MOV to "QTZ" ?

    Thank you.

  2. qtz = Quartz Composer files?
I don't think there is a software to convert some mov file into a (Quartz Composer) composition.
Just out of curiosity what software do you use?

  3. I use a software called BB-TV. And the software needs qtz compositions for graphic overlay. There needs to be some way.

  4. Maybe Quartz Composer can be used to build a composition with a mov as input,.. (but iirc one might have to first convert the video to an image sequence and extract the audio, not sure it's ages since I have used Quartz Composer and really do not have much experience with it)

  5. Where could I download that? The files are originally done within After Effects, so the files need to be converted.

  6. Quart Composer is a part of Xcode (at least it was), see: https://developer.apple.com/technologies/mac/graphics-and-animation.html and http://quartzcomposer.com/
you might also want to read the Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quartz_Composer to get a better understanding what qtz files / Quartz Composer Compositions are.

    I use a software called BB-TV.
Never head of it, got a link with some further infos about it?

  7. Yes. This gives you some information: http://www.ninsight.com/fichiers/docs/bbtv/BBTV_Documentation_En.pdf

scroll down to were it says "graphic layering"

  8. Do I download the Xcode?

    Thanks

  9. Ah okay, from the looks of it BB-TV should allow mov input, but I guess you wanted to overlay one clip over another by 'misusing' 'graphic layering' for 'video layering' to create some pip ('picture in picture'-effect).

XCode -> https://developer.apple.com/technologies/tools/ (should be available from the Apple Store, probably for free)

You will also have to read a few Quartz Composer tutorials and google a bit to figure out how to import a mov into Quartz Composer to do what you want.

  10. Wow, it does look kinda of complex.

  11. Yup, it's a animation composition tool.
-> Maybe the ninsight folks now some typical workflow how to properly do pip with BB-TV, so asking their support might be a good idea. Worst case: They tell you it's not possible or indented and you have to go the Quartz Composer way.
Best case: they tell you to use option X or a simple workaround and everything is fine.
