  1. Hello,

Could tell me how easy it is to stream a video file to Internet Explorer 9?

The idea is to host a video file (not sure which is best for streaming) on a network drive, then, from our Intranet, create a link to it. When a user clicks the link, it should play inside the browser window (streamed) and not ask for it to be saved.

I'm not sure if Microsoft Silverlight would help in this regard.

I'm a newbie at this, so any advice on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks.

In our organisation, this is the version that is used within our Windows Server 2008 environment - we have other measures to counteract security problems...so any ideas how I can solve the issue?

    Thanks.

Your W2k8 server should have the option to also be an IIS Server, Windows Media Server and (with addon?) Silverlight Server. Silverlight isn't necessary (you could just stream w/ WMS), but if you want secure, encrypted streams, it is probably better suited for the job (as long as your client PCs have the Silverlight plugin installed of course). If you wanted to be able to serve up all types of MM file formats using multiple protocols, both securely and with helpful features, you could get a Wowza Server, but it is expensive.
Otherwise, should be that big of a setup, nor cost much, if anything.

Let us know much more detail about your setup if you want more info (not that I can give all you would need...).
