    Hi
a friend of mine converted a mov with high bitrate to a lowest.

He deleted the original file. Now (he asked me to help), he can t open the 1,4Gb file.

The message with quicktime is "the movie file capture000.mov cannot be found, without this file, the movie cannot play properly".

I would like to know if it s possible to fix the movie file, as it contains not only audio.
With vlc, i have a 1920*1080 video track with codec apple prores 422.

When i look at the 'video statistics', no block is decoded

    Regards

What did your friend convert with?
Post the details from the mov with mediainfo, open mov, view->text.

You could also try open the mov with mpeg streamclip and see if it finds anything.
As a last solution can you try video repair tools like graus video repair tool and treasured / www.mp4repair.org

  3. That message usually means the quicktime file is simply a reference "shell" that requires a different file to play. How big was the original file? How long is the file? It's not out of the question you have only the audio left. What were your friend's reencode settings? In what software? Are you trying to play ProRes on a PC?

    Hi
    here is the mediainfo screenshot

mpeg streamclip, graus, mp4repair were not helpful in my case

He used Final Cut on macos. The original file was 40Gb

the film is two hour long.
From the screenshot, is there only audio for 1,4Gb ?

  5. There is no way it contains real video data if the filesize is 1.4GB

2h9min of 1536kbps for the audio track is about 1.38GB . The rest is container overhead, TC data

    There is nothing to fix
