  1. Rename your file *.MPG. More programs and devices will play it. Deinterlacing and re-encoding always reduces quality. Did you view my MKV file? The lower left corner of approximately the same frame you posted:

    Name: corner.png
Views: 331
Size: 53.6 KB

That's cropped from the 720x576 frame with no resizing so you can see exactly what's in the frame, not some resized version where you can't tell what problems are in the video vs. what problems were caused by the resizing.

    Right.

I do not normally de-interlace but the OP was having these playback issues.

The other problem with the source is the 1:1 PAR which, learning from an earlier thread, I expect could easily be fixed with ffmpeg.

The MOD file posted by the OP is an MPEG 2 program stream flagged as 16:9 DAR.

Indeed it is but many players do not see that. When I opened it in avidemux it did not display as 16:9 and hence I had to force it as such.

  5. Yes, it works fine!

I just renamed the MOD file into MPG and it plays correctly on my TV set. Great.

I value your care very much.

My original issue is absolutely solved.

So, I successfully close the thread.

    Thanks all you
