Ripping A Video

Hi all,

I am here as a last resort as I have tried other things myself first and had really no success.

I am trying to rip a video off the British Channel 5 On Demand service and I have had no luck. I have got a piece of software that lets me rip things from other sites, including the BBC, but it won't work for Channel 4OD or Channel Five On Demand. Can anyone help me to do this?

I have tried Vity's Rapid Downloader and it didn't work, I have tried various other FLV capture softwares, they didn't work and GetFLV doesn't work either. Anyone else, more intelligent than I am, got any suggestions?

Likely has a copy protection flag set.

Try a tool that doesn't use the url, but simply captures the data as it's streaming. Such as Replay Media Catcher 5 (which works on all the content that I've used it for..but I haven't tested on BBC streams.

denobisipsis - What is it that I am meant to do with the link you shared? Thanks. I have just downloaded rtmpdump and url snooper. if you can give me any advice on how you obtained the link you posted I would be very grateful.

Channel5 uses often Brightcove, and sometimes the links returned are downloadable via rtmp, but in this case we have a drm file:

drmMetadataURL

In other cases, a link like

are downloadable rtmpdump -r "link" -o something.mp4

So I just put that URL into the rtmp dump (the first one with the metadata at the end) into the rtmp dump and it will download?
