The faulty chapter's number (whether 1st or last) depends on I am using progressive method or not (at rendering).

    Please help!

By the way I am using Windows XP (legal), Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate (legal) on an E5200, 4GB RAM, HD4850 (512 MB).

Thank You for your help in advance.

  2. Are you saying certain frames/fields or distorted frames/fields appear out of order , resulting in the "flashing" ?

When in the workflow does the problem occur? => Clarify if this only occurs during authoring (it's fine before authoring), or before authoring during encoding (rendering) , or even in the preview before encoding

In the 1st screenshot with the "defective" frame - it looks like the right ~2/5 of the image is cut off and moved to the left side of the frame.

I thought that was some sort of side-by-side comparison...

  6. just as poisondeathray says: when the video is started I can see the video but in every 1 or 1,5 seconds the faulty frame comes in.

    Dear poisondeathray,

The problem occurs after the rendering only. When I start it it goes like: good frame, good frame, good frame, good frame... bad (distorted) frame... good frame, good frame etc.
    What do You think?
(I have even deleted the broken codecs then reinstalled the K- Lite Code Pack 10.1 in "default".)

    Your help very appreciated.

  7. I don't use pinnacle , but are rendering (encoding) and authoring separate processes there ?

I assume the preview within pinnacle looks fine when you go frame by frame?

Is there a "cache" setting in pinnacle ? Some NLE's and various video programs have a cache that is used for fast rendering and sometimes frames can get mixed up . See if you can clear the cache

What happens if you try exporting in a different format e.g. a lossless AVI like lagarith. ? Basically anything else than what you are currently using - Just to rule out export codec issues

  8. Normally in video processing, encoding video is one process, authoring for DVD is another separate process

encoding the video for DVD into mpeg2 elementary stream (e.g. video.m2v) => I want to know if the problem occurs here , or only after authoring the DVD . ie. Where does the problem occur in the workflow ?

  9. Dear poisondeathray,

First things first. Sorry for the late comment I had no chance to reply earlier.
Believe me, everything is perfect untill the last step (the rendering) the preview etc. is perfect. And there is a rendering option: "always recode the entire film" so in theory there is no need to clear the cache.
    What do You thing?

Thank You for your help in advance.

  10. Obviously, this is some kind of problem with Pinnacle Studio. It's the buggiest video editor ever written. Try different frame sizes, different codecs, etc.
