What is the best video conversion program for converting .flv files to Mp4s?
I have been creating many .flv files for streaming the past few years and are now needing many of the same videos in MP4 format. I could recompress every single one from Premiere but was interested if anyone knew of a good converter.

    The .flv files are at 640x360 60fps at bitrates of 200kbps, 500kbps, 700kbps, 1000kbps and 3000kbps.

    Thanks for the help!

What is the video codec in the flv? If h264 you could try remux to a mp4 with ffmpeg or mp4box.

  3. if the video is H.264:
    a. extract video, audio and timecodes with FLVExtract
    b. mux video, audio timecodes with MP4Box
if you need to reencode the video and know you way around video encoding, Hybrid should be able to do the job.

The codec for the .flv files is VP6. Does this mean I cannot use the programs you mentioned?
    Quote Quote
  5. You then, can't simply remux (extract then multiplex) the video since MP4 does not support the VP6 video format.
-> you would need to reencode to in example H.264
Hybrid would still be able to do the job, but since Hybrid is not ment for beginners, but for more advanced users it might be easier for you to use a simpler tool.

Well I just tried downloading and installing hybrid on my windows xp machine and couldn't start the program. I received an error which read,
"bluray device testing did not start after 10 sec., cause might be incompatibility with tool or system".

Are there any other programs you can recommend?

Alright, I tried using Vidcoder and it appears to be working. I have tried to convert a 500kbps .flv to a 500kbps mp4. When the conversion completes, I receive an error code that says the conversion failed. I can however open the file and play it all the way through without issue. I posted the job log below. I don't know if the errors it's posting are actual problems that would effect my video. Can either of you offer advice as more experienced users?

    Thank you!
