- multiple branches for long term projects
- private ones for each developer (locally reach developer might have additional branches)

I may have missed the fact that some patches were applied to both branches.
Still, there is now a little problem for casual builders using automated building suites: They cannot rely on "tip" pointing to either branch. Means, such suites may have to either decide to prefer one branch, or even add a choice in their configuration?
