I had a bit of problem here and I ended up with about 5 GB of mp2 files. They all play OK on Windows Media player but I can't find anything in the CONVERT section to convert them to either MPG or AVI. I'm trying to convert them all so I can burn VCDs.

The only program I have that might work is EO Video but the trial period had expired months ago (I used it to convert several RM to AVI)

    Thanks for any helps

(While I'm here, the 'little problem' I had was capturing with my ATI TV Wonder. WinVCR won't capture on any resolution except at 160x120. I couldn't get Virtuadub to find the tuner. I only had ATI TV program left and ti only saves in mp2 format. Any other program? I use Win XP, 1.4GHz P4, 768MB RAM, and combined 210 GB HD space (from 6 HDs))

Please check my "Expanding Memory in XP with ECD Creator" post of 4/2. I listed the processes open and would like to know which ones I can temporarily turn off. Thanks -

if you go to the site in my signature and grab the MPEG-2 codec's you can then put your mp2 files into TMPGEnc and convert them to VCD (though since you can already open mp2 files in MS Media Player you might already have some MPEG-2 codec's installed - try pulling them into TMPGEnc first before you install other codecs) -- also to make sure they go into TMPGEnc go into Options->Environmental Settings->VFAPI Plug-ins and set your Direct Show filter to priority 0

or you can open them up in DVD2AVI then feed the DVD2AVI project file into TMPGEnc

either way will work - your looking to convert MPEG-2 files to VCD or DivX ... mp2 is an ATI extension for MPEG-2 that isn't commonly used to describe MPEG-2 files --- look for guides to converting MPEG-2 or SVCD to any other format

Ok I got TMPGEnc to load the MP2. I had to use show all files (*.*) before I could find the files.

I got to wonder why MPG2? Not many program can play them without extra codecs and it takes a long time to convert them to MPG1 even on my P4 1.4GHz system (768MB RAM), nearly 3 times the amount of time to convert a DivX compressed file to MPG1.
