  1. Hello,

I am having trouble after capturing off of tv into an mpeg1 file. If I burn the file commercials and all unedited my dvd player will play it without a hitch. If I use vcdcutter, myflix, ifilmedit or any cutter joiner program I have tried to cut the commercials out the vcd will skip like crazy and eventually freeze. I have used the standard 1.15 mbps as well as 1.8 and 1.89. My DVD player can support up to 4.5. If I use TMPGENC to encode the file the video is fine but the audio has pops all though it like an old scratched up LP. I have tried everything I know to do and am at the end of my rope. I capture with an ATI 64 MB DDR VIVO with MMC7.1 with the registry hack to make it VCD compliant. I have burned with NERO 5.5 and ULEAD MovieFactory 1.0. I use a 1.4 ghz amd system. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks :D

    use TMPGENC > File > Mpeg Tools > Merge&Cut > add > edit

This will let you remove parts you don't want, but does NOT re-encode the movie.

Those other programs will cause problems with your original file, they take a compliant VCD and make them non standard, which other programs need to correct and cause the lip sync.

Any time I've cut up my mpg's I always had to multiplex them with Tmpgenc after--it seems to reintegrate everything. Be warned though that if your original is out of synch your multiplexed version will be as well. Speaking of out of synch, its been my experience that the less Tmpgenc has to do, the better, so I switched to MMC7.5 to record at all sorts of funky settings, then edit with m2-edit or vcdcutter then multiplex. If you use m2-edit you might have to de-multiplex, then multiplex right after--don't ask me why but it brings the filesize back to normal after editing. Question for you--have you run across any prog that lets you edit variable bit rate captures as easily as constant bit rate ones? It seems this is my holy grail and i have yet to find it

  4. Dunno about the others, but I know for a fact that in iFilmEdit, you have to make sure to tick 'VCD Compliant' before producing the finished movie (unfortunately it does not default to that option...).

    Cheers

M2 Edit and MyFlix both take a compliant VCD Mpeg and make it non compliant. The Mux rate is wrong, when I emailed them, they did not want to know, and said they make perfect VCD mpeg's.

It can be fixed by streaming via Merge&Cut in TMPGEnc.
