You could try remux(no reconversion) to a mp4 with avidemux. Choose copy under video and audio and choose format mp4. Save as new .mp4 file. And see if it works better in your players.

Please check if ffdshow is set to decode VP6F (old type of Flash Video).

I don't know if LAV Video recognizes the VP6A Fourcc 0_o.

Also, make sure that Haali Media Splitter IS NOT being used at all.

At middle left in avidemux should there be a drop down that says Output Format: avi muxer. Change it to mp4 muxer.

  7. Baldrick: it says only MP4video and H264 supported for this video, and gives me errors!

    First of all, forget Avidemux.

After Googling around and doing some tests, here goes a possible workaround...

Open the pesky file in VirtualDub w/ the Matroska input plugin.
Ignore the warning about "MISSING CODEC".

Choose "Direct Stream Copy" for both video and audio, and press F7 (Save as AVI).

    Then use avic.exe for changing the Fourcc from "vp6a + VP6A" to "vp6f + VP6F".
Now the AVI file should open properly in both VirtualDub and MPC-HC.

    Hope this helps.

We can't help you very much while you keep omitting important info.

For example, what have you done exactly, until you were greeted with that error message

Then please upload a sample file to this forum.
The method I suggested was based on an actual FLV encoded with the VP6A codec,
and possibly there's something irregular in the MKVs you have.

Okay, now I've managed to view the DAAAAMN file, and that's a start.

    For the notes:

I really need more buckets of coffee ,
I hadn't noticed the Mediainfo report in post #1 already had said the MKV file contains TWO video streams.

    Anyway:
The pesky MKV plays fine with MPC-HC + LAV Splitter + LAV Video (VP6 decoder enabled).

Assuming you're interested only in the higher-resolution stream, you can just remux the files through MKVmerge, discarding the low-res video, and you don't even have to change the Fourcc. O.T.O.H., since the higher-res video is the default stream already, why waste time with remuxing?

But if you want to watch both streams at the same time, then the re-encode is inevitable,
and A.T.M. I can't think of any "easy way" to automate the whole process for a batch conversion

  21. VP6A playback test results in various video players:

Potplayer, MPC-BE, KMPlayer, SMPlayer was possible to play the sample but MPC-HC and VLC was impossible.

Notwithstanding, if you happen to prefer AV Splitter to LAV Splitter....

For the time being, FORGET your K-Lite Codec Pack. Seriously. Assuming it has not screwed the operating system, you will just uninstall it (later). For the time being, download the archive MPC-HC.1.7.0.154.x86.7z from http://nightly.mpc-hc.org/ . Since it uses the LAV Filters directly, it should play your weird MKV files "out of the box", so to speak.

If you want to learn how to configure ffdshow, or how to use Graphstudio, etc., you'd better start new topics in the Newbies sub-forum

  25. thx finally i can play them without a hassle, if u could tell me of a quick and easy method, noob friendly, to convert those files (with the least amount of time and pc load, basically just change whatever is preventing them from playing, or losslessly encode them to another format) so i can play them on my android device, i will be forever in ur debt, btw i only care about the mainstream, i don't care about the other video with the instructor, thx

As I had said, please start a NEW topic in a more appropriate subforum (either "Video Conversion" or "Newbies").

There are various newb-friendly packages, but I don't know and I don't use any of them
    (since 2007, at least).

His problem was poorly-defined since the beginning, and has little to do with "Software Playing" in my humble opinion.

At least the title of this topic should be changed, surely the opening expression "Plz help" is not helpful at all.
