Anybody with experience of cloud computing?

On the Ubuntu website there used to be a section where you could log in and run a Ubuntu command-line session online.

    It's not working now.

Are there any other sites like this (that you have tried) ...
where you log in, load a virtual operating system and run a script or whatever?

(There are some websites where you can run a shell in the browser, but that's not what this question is about)

But it looks like the vps is intended for businesses... hosting websites and handling email etc.
Overkill for running an occasional linux script.

VPS are not "for business" any more than Photoshop or Premiere.
Anybody can use one. It's just a tool (server type).

The alternative is a local VM on your desktop.

My own PC isn't good enough to run a VM.

Maybe I need to find a friend with a *fast* PC, mount the Linux Live CD iso, then run the script.
    Simples.

I could run Linux VMs 10 years ago.
Use Sun VirtualBox and a good Ubuntu OS. I suggest Xubuntu.

I have that on several computers, including this one where I'm typing now.
