Hi I am transferring my SP betacam tapes to the computer. I was spooling a tape back to the head and the SP Player is saying 'alarm'. the tape I'm assuming is back at the head but I cannot eject the tape. In fact I can't do anything...do you know why this has happened? The machine display says: EO-9-3215 and a white square is flashing below the 'ALARM' sign.
Does this help?

Those decks, you haven't specified the model, come with a big manual that lists error messages. Could be anything from a transport error to humidity.
Best to turn everything off while you're getting it sorted.
Wish I could tell you more. -
I have borrowed this machine from a friend who is overseas...but I will check with him if he has a manual. The model is: Sony Betacam SP Digital Compact player J-3..still trying to find the model...why do the make the writing so small

09 Error on the J3 is a threading/unthreading error. The tape has at best gotten stuck in the hinged door of the cassette, at worst wrapped itself around part of the mechanism.
If you feel competent to do so, (no judgement here, I don't know you) open the top of the deck and gently maneuver the tape back to where it's al least close to the cassette and try to remove the cassette from the machine.
