When I try to add srt subtitles to a video title in the AVStoDVD window (Ctrl+S), AVStoDVD not only refuses to add them (no error message - no subtitles on the subtitle tab) but the srt file is immediately deleted from the folder which contained it (same as the video file). Luckily I kept copies...

What's happening? I have the latest version of the software.

    Thanks

I've seen this happen before, when the location of the srt file happens to be in the AVStoDVD temp files path,
as defined in the preferences. Try moving it somewhere else then adding it.

Bit of a peculiar situation, the program author, MrC may look at this.

I am pretty sure I was using the same folder I have always used before, with no problems like this in the past. But I've moved the video and the srt files to a different folder as you suggest and now the subtitles are added as normal!

Many thanks for the reply - definitely something worth remembering for the future!

I have more problems with subtitles than any other aspect of DVD authoring. I included the srt files in the AVStoDVD setup, the subtitles box is checked in ffdshow.... Resulting DVD has no subtitles. It's so frustrating.

LATER: Just to be sure, have now tried on a different DVD player/TV setup and I do get the titles! Will check what's wrong with the first player (a new Panasonic)...

OK, sorry for the hasty post - all fine. The problem was with the recorder settings, the subtitles did work OK. It's true what I said though - I have more issues with subtitles than any other aspect of putting together a DVD, but this time it's fine (and I think that the newest versions of AVStoDVD using ffdshow rather than HCenc or QuEnc has made things a lot more reliable).
