    Hello

    Do you know how to play .avi videos backwards with VLC, Potplayer, Kmplayer, BSPlayer or any other common multimedia player? (without using video editors)

    regards

  2. Quicktime player uses standard jkl protocols but -- and this is important --your file has to be able to do it as well. Long GOP avis like Xvid will not give smooth results. DV avi, for example, will be fine.

    Hello

    I can't get that Quicktime play avi files. It keeps telling I need to install new codec but I've already installed all the codecs on that page.

    Thank you anyway

    1. Use MediaInfo to find what codec your file uses. Then, if possible, DL & install a quicktime component plugin for that codec.

    2. I say "if possible", because, just like AVI or any other container architecture, NOT ALL CODECS ARE AVAILABLE IN ALL CONTAINER PLATFORMS. It could very well be that you have an AVI which has no Quicktime codec equivalent. For example: HuffYUV, MSRaw, etc. Just like there are QT files which have NO Directshow/VfW/VCM (aka AVI) equivalent, for example: AIC, Animation, ProRes422.

    If you have a file that is STUCK in it's own architecture, open it in a player/editor/converter/processor that supports that codec & architecture and then CONVERT it to an uncompressed file (yes it will be huge). Then you can open that up with the other architecture apps and convert again to a codec of your choice that works with that app.

  5. Quicktime should never be run in Windows. It's terrible. You could use any player that supports AviSynth scripts to play an AVI backwards.

    Code:
    AviSource("filename.avi")
    Reverse()
    SMPlayer or MPCHC will work.

    Why would you want to play a video or movie backwards ??

    Are you looking for hidden satanic video messages like back in the day when people would play albums or cassette tapes backwards ?!?!?!

    LOL!!!

    This really gets to the heart of the matter.

    If OP is doing, say, sports analysis and wants to go back and forth over a section, the solution is very different from wanting to, say, watch a whole show in reverse.
