Hello!

Now I know this has been talked about to death for years, but I have a problem using the x264vfw (64-bit version of course) codec in Vegas 9.0e, which is also the 64-bit version, so I have the same version as the program. When I've searched all over and tried many solutions on old threads all over the net related to this problem, they simply won't work. I can't do any heavy coding since I'm nowhere near an expert. I just follow directions...

Strange thing is, I've been using this codec before in the past, which is why this is irking me. The codec worked fine in Vegas until one day, it started to render my files too large out of the blue, where as previously, I had it set up to the perfect quality (the simple way) I wanted and the file size was marvelous. Then when trying to fix that, I noticed my version of the codec was outdated and I had to uninstall it to install the recent version. But when I installed the new one, the codec just doesn't appear as an option anymore. I've read that if you installed it in the "SysWOW64" folder, it'll fix this problem, but even that didn't work. I've even checked in VirtualDub (which I don't use anymore because it destroys my video quality) and the codec's not even showing up as an option there.

Could this be related to my anti-virus program as well? Every time I re-download the codec, AVG alerts me about a potential threatening file that's not even the .exe file I just downloaded (the said file was a certain Camtasia file, something I also do not use anymore). Since it wasn't specifying that the x264vfw set-up file was the threat, I just ignore it every time. But it is strange that it alerts me all the time.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm kinda at the end of the line here as far as doing this myself...and with no knowledge whatsoever on advanced settings, there's nothing more I can do.

Thanks!
