How can i take screen shots of mpegs?

Bah....i need to capture some stills from these mpegs.....

but whenever i try to just take a screen shot and paste into photoshop or paint it never works.....its fucked up.....

is there any program that i can capture stills from vcds/mpegs with that will work....or anyway to do this?

usually i'd tell someone this would be the simplest thing to do.....i'm finding its not, heh

Hey, I have the same problem. I was so pissed off when I captured a load of mpeg2 files and then went to grab my screenshots and the screen came out black!

Now what I do is always capture in lossless avi first, and then get all the screen grabs I will ever need from that, and THEN convert it to mpeg2 when I'm done screen grabbing. I think it's the only way, cos no matter whet I've tried doing, I have never been able to grab a screen from an mpeg2, without using video editing software.
