  1. I am shopping for a videocamera for interview and documentary style videos, mostly for the web for now. I have experience with still cameras but not so much video. Will be using FC pro X for editing. I am also on a budget, so trying to find disent used cameras.

Currently considering Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM or SONY HVR-Z7U.

Can you please advise on pros and cons of the these two cameras? Which one would be prefered? What should I consider?

    Thank you in advance.

  2. Both great cameras in their day. You would probably never use the tape transport on the 7ZU these days. But at the price you're going to pay for this old technology plus the wear and tear of a previous owner, you may really want to research new.

    Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM !!!
    No doubts about it

EX1 is bigger 1/2" sensor = bigger, less noise.
    and true 1920x1080
    and Fujinon Lens!
Recording on memory card (SxS are bloody expensive but you can use SD-card with adapter)

    EX1 was budget journalist work-horse

Sony replaced EX1 only last year by newer PMW-200.
