  1. I think the best type of DVDs ever created are live concert videos. You get amazing 5.1 or DTS sound, and a picture to watch (with lyrics if encoded).

So, just like I used to make mix CD's of my favorite songs when CD-R's first came out (and before mp3's were popular), I want to be able to take individual chapters (songs) from various concert DVDs and write out a newly authored DVD with the chapters in the order that I want and with my own menu, etc.

Certainly I can RIP, convert to avi, rencode to MPEG and author. But I have found that one, this takes forever, two, I lose some quality rerendering the imagine, and three, I lose the advanced audio options.

Essentially what I want to do is RIP particular chapters from various DVDs into their VOBs, and author directly from the VOBs while never having to rerender and lose video quality, or the various video streams or subtitles.

I have tried SMARTRIPPER and then renaming the VOB to .mpeg and then using ULEAD DVD Movie Factory to create a new DVD. Within Move Factory, it plays perfectly (video and audio), but when I go to burn the DVD (or just the newly compiled VOB files), the audio is hissed and choppy. My guess is that my hack for "renaming the VOB to mpeg" caused the audio issue.

Any ideas? Any help is appreciated and I promise that when and if I figure this out, I will create a guide.

    Thanks in advance.
