Hello,I have Hauppauge colossus and i have used the softwares that came with it but im really lopoking for something else.I dont really use this a lot but now i need it.Ok so what i need is software that records on given time (scheduled recording) and then saves it to some directory.I know there are some softwares out there that do that but i really dont know which one.Software that creates the smallest file size would be Awesome.Kindly if you know any softwares please let me know.

  2. I'd look int Beyond TV, Sage TV, Myth TV, etc.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_PVR_software_packages

See which ones support the Colossus.

  6. You use it to start whatever program you're currently using. Task Scheduler just starts it at the time you specify.

P.s. just to clear some missunderstaind, the program i mentioned that i want to selcet to record trough, just puts some text on video and then you can select the program from some other program and it will show the video with the text on it and then you can begin recording.

  8. I thought you had the the recording software already and just needed a way to start it at a particular time. Doesn't Hauppauge's latest software from the Game Capture series work with the Colossus? It has the ability to add a logo as it records.

First of all, I don't know of ANY scheduler or recorder software for the Colossus that will let you put custom text inside the video. jagabo seems to have missed this.

The older version of ArcSoft ShowBiz that came with Colossus allowed you to set the bit rate to whatever you liked. The newer version does not. File size depends on bit rate so whatever you use, you can control the size via the bit rate setting if the software lets you set that. It is possible with WinTV to set a specific recording time, but I dislike using WinTV in general because the interface is not easy to work with.

If audio is not being recorded then this is because your connection is not good (look for a loose cable) or you selected the wrong audio input and that's why you're getting nothing.

  11. The latest software for the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition allows you to insert a logo into your recordings. With that feature you could add text (ie, a picture of text). I don't know what limitations it has on size, position, etc. I also don't know if it works with the Colossus.

By the way, you can change the file size (bitrate) used by WinTV with some Registry hacks.

If the Colossus has such a text feature, it was either recently added or it's in a place that makes it hard to find. I've definitely never seen anything like this with mine.

There seem to be some differences between the Colossus and the HD PVR 2 series devices and I'm not sure that if something works for one it will work for the other.

There is information about the Haupauge Personal Logo Inserter here: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_hdpvr2.html

It doesn't seem to be software that Hauppauge allows customers to download separately from the HD-PVR 2 installation CD.
